2011 Football Challenge

Congratulations to Evergreen Water for winning their first Le Tournoi, by beating Joao Marques 2-1 in a fantastic final. And well done to NatWest IPB for taking the Plate title, defeating CI Co-Op in the Plate final.

The 2011 Childrens' Challenges

Another great event - 68 kids teams braved the on/off weather over the weekend to enjoy a real festival of football and music. Undeterred by the rain, the U8 and U10 age groups enjoyed mornings of coaching with our hugely popular Arsenal and Everton coaching staff and rubbed shoulders with goalkeeping legend Neville Southall and Euro freestyle champ Colin Nell. We cannot thank these guys enough - they give up their weekends free of charge to help us deliver the most inclusive soccer event in the Channel Islands and to bring inspiration and the very best coaching to the kids.

Well done to St Peters who won the U12 Challenge, and the All Stars, last year's winners of the U12 event and now crowned U14 champions.

All the kids were a credit to their teams - Neville Southall was amongst a number of our guests who were extremely complimentary about their conduct, saying that it was unusual to have such good behaviour across so many teams, in poor weather and across four age groups - WELL DONE!!

A huge thanks also to Hamlyn Moon who led the organising of the weekend, toiled over the schedules and ensured the weekend went well, despite the weather forcing us to change plans at short notice., and to club coaches for helping us to officiate the matches and keep good order overall.

"Firstly I would just like to say thank you for you absolutely fantastic hospitality over the weekend. It was the first time I had been to Jersey and I was taken aback by the people you work with and support they are a credit to yourselves and to Le Tournoi. The children were very well behaved in the sessions we took and it was a pleasure to be a part of the weekend on a whole. I cannot thank you enough for everything you guys and your team did for us we were made to feel right at home.

I will definitely be visiting Jersey again with my family as it’s a fantastic place to visit. I would love to meet up with you guys as well - the work you do for the Island is unbelievable and it didn’t go unrecognised with us".
Joseph Rowe, Youth Coach, Everton FC

A huge thanks also goes to Ivor Richards and his team of technicians and performers from the La Motte Street Studios. The quality of the bands and DJs was first class despite the fact they had to play cat and mouse with the rain.

We are committed to continually improving the festival and already have received some suggestions as to how we can do this. We need your feedback, open and honest, to be able to ensure any shortcomings are addressed, and to be sure we are taking the weekend in the right direction. Please feel free to mail us at admin@letournoi.org to let us know your views and ideas.
