Clipper '09-'10 Sets Off with Donna Atkinson Aboard

More that 100,000 people lined the banks of the Humber to watch the start of the Clipper '09-'10 Round the World Yacht Race on 13th September. Ahead lies a ten month long, 35,000-mile course that will take the race to France before crossing to Brazil, South Africa, Australia, Singapore, China, California, Panama, Jamaica, New York, Cape Breton Island, Cork and the Netherlands.
On board the Qingdao yacht is Jersey's own Donna Atkinson. Donna'a late husband Ian was a member of the successful Rawlinson & Hunter crew in our inaugural Sailing Challenge in 2006 before he was sadly taken from us at the tender age of 33 a year later. Donna vowed to take part in Ian's memory and will hopefully have enough sea legs remaining to join in our 2010 Challenge.

The fleet will make its triumphant return to the Humber on 17th July 2010, just two months before making its debut in the Le Tournoi 2010 Challenge.
